"JACKIE" (as we called him at home in Seppala Kennels) was a hardy, vigorous, energetic male with high intelligence and libido. Bred by Sergei Solovyev, imported from Russia in 1992, this magnificent sleddog from the Ural Mountains (whose immediate ancestors were village sleddogs of the Anadyr River basin) became a powerful genetic force in our breeding programme. One of our best wheel dogs and a reserve leader, now retired, he was always a hard worker. His temperament was aloof, independent, impetuous, proud, but friendly and playful with his driver. He bore a striking resemblance to a 1935 son of Siberia import KREE VANKA, the leader called "Cossack" by his owner Marie Turner, registered as Ch. VANKA OF SEPPALA 2nd.

THE GENETIC contribution of SHAKAL IZ SOLOVYEV to the evolving Seppala Siberian Sleddog breed has already proven to be as decisive as that of the 1930 Siberia import brothers KREE VANKA and TSERKO. Bred to pure Seppala bitches, Jackie threw powerful, fast, determined sleddogs that were a marked improvement over their Sepp-Alta dams. His progeny were noteworthy for their cheerful, cooperative temperaments, and these qualities have been passed on to his grandchildren.
