- The Seppala Siberian Sleddog Breed Standard (1995) - This is the guiding standard for breeders of Seppala Sleddogs. It is similar to the breed standards for other purebreds although its emphasis in very different, since it places performance ahead of appearance in importance and is not merely a list of show points and disqualifications. This is the ONLY valid standard for SSSDs and has been in effect since the acceptance of SSSDs by Agriculture Canada as an evolving breed in 1997. | Download MS Word file! |
- The I. S. A. Chinook Breed Standard, 2005 - This is the guiding standard for breeders of working Chinooks. As the present U. K. C. standard is predominantly a showdog standard prescribing show faults and disqualifications, it was felt that a sensible descriptive standard for the Chinook as a working sleddog was needed; that need has been well met in this new document.| Download MS Word file! |
- The Traits That Matter - This article, reprinted from Seppala Network Bulletin Vol. 3 No. 1 (February 1998) explores the twenty most necessary qualities in a serious sleddog breeding and selection programme. Its principles apply just as well to other breeds, certainly including the Chinook dog, as they to do the SSSD breed. | Download MS Word file! |
