WE HAVE BRED SHAKAL IZ SOLOVYEV three times to grand-progeny of the Uelen Kennels SURGUT OF MARKOVO ex HELEN OF MARKOVO mating. The first breeding was to NORDE OF SEPP-ALTA (by HERCULES OF SEPP-ALTA ex UELEN'S ALI) in 1994. In 1997 he was bred to ZIRCONIA OF SEPP-ALTA and FIREBALL OF SEPP-ALTA (both by UELEN'S BEOWULF OF SEPP-ALTA ex POWDER OF MARKOVO).

SHAKAL'S PROGENY out of NORDE are cheerful, friendly, powerful dogs and capable workers. When we trained the Z-litter as a team of 5 plus ZIRCONIA as leader, we often remarked that this six-dog team felt like eight dogs in terms of power. The males look like big dogs, but actually the largest weighs around 50 pounds; their thick coats make them look bigger than they really are. For awhile we trained them with our top speed leader TONYA and SEPALLOP and discovered that "the Russians" could keep pace with our best Seppalas. The Z-litter has been a gratifying bunch to work with. In winter of 2003 I ran ZAR and ZAKI (above) at wheel in my first-string team led by TONYA and her half-Alaskan daughter HAPPY. At eight and one-half years of age they are still as capable as ever.
